HUMAN RIGHTS CONSULTATION

Did you know that Australia is the only democratic country that does not have a human rights charter? The Federal Government has announced a national consultation on how best to protect your human rights. Human rights affect everyone, and everyone should   have their say. If you would like to tell the government your views, feel free to contact us here at North & North West Community Service Inc. We are happy to help you. For example, in Australia do you have:

• A right to vote?
• A right to freedom of religion?
• A right to adequate housing?
• A right to freedom of speech?
• A right to education?

All of these rights exist in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, but they have not been fully incorporated into Australian Law.

Have your say and participate in the drive to recognise your human rights. Make your submission by 29 May 2009.

The deadline for the Committee to Report with thier recommendations is 30 September 2009
